Most high performance DAQ devices (boards, cards or modules) cannot be directly used for battery test.

  1. Batteries are connected to charger or load. So the test often requires isolation from batteries to test system and computer;
  2. Battery strings often have many batteries in serial connection to provide high voltage. Most DAQ devices cannot work for high common voltage.
  3. Dealing with high voltage and high current, the reliable connection is vital. Most DAQ devices utilize high density connectors like D-sub or flat cable which are not rated for high voltage. Screw type connection has difficult to disconnect "HOT" wire. A messy/unreliable connection is a prone to failure.
  4. Some DAQ devices utilize mechanic relay to scan channels, the speed and long term reliability are concerned. To test multiple battery packs/strings at one time often need multiple test systems.
  5. Different battery voltage like 1.2V, 2V, 3.6V, 6V, 12V, 16V for each channel requires high A/D resolution.
  6. Beside voltage, the current and ambient temperature are often required for a official charge/discharge record.
  7. Like for a EV (electric vehicle) road test, complex bench top system is difficult to fit in and to be powered.
  8. Software, some proprietary system does not provide transparent data interface. It is difficult to integrate it to ATE software like LabVIEW.
  9. Real-time data processing and alarming. Most DAQ devices don't have any function to set limit such as charge/discharge voltage limit and output alarm when it happens.
  10. Mounting, mechanical toughness, other safety concerns.

Easy, Safe, Accurate -- BatteryDAQ™ means all

TM-30 and TM-40HV are two outstanding DAQ devices designed for test engineers to deal with wide variety of battery testing jobs, small or large.

  1. Fully isolated. Input channel/signal is isolated to data port.
  2. High common voltage, 400V for TM30 and 600V for TM-40HV.
  3. Phoenix Contact or same grade 5.08mm plugs provide reliable connections and hot plug-unplug operation.
  4. No mechanical scanning component. Quite, fast and reliable. One module can link to multiple packs/strings.
  5. 16-bit high resolution A/D with high performance reference.
  6. Voltage, current, and ambient temperature in one module. Wide range of current transducers can be utilized and easily calibrated.
  7. 12V power supply.
  8. Excel sheet software and standard Modbus protocol. Easy to use, easy to analyze and to make new chart etc. Easy to integrate to LabVIEW or other software.
  9. Real-time data processing and alarming. Multiple parameters can be set to the module to constantly monitor battery voltage, current and temperature and generate alarm.
  10. Mounting, mechanical toughness, other safety concerns are taken care.
